Peter Colquitt
I was born in January 31st 1952 at my grandparents cottage in Sheepwas on Caverswall Common. My mother had problems not being able to rid herself of the afterbirth, an ambulance was called. There was a nurse in the ambulance and it was she that nammed me not my parents.
In 1966 I deserted the Church after helping to teach in Sunday School from 10 years of age. This was due to an infortunate individual writing to my mother a letter stating "this is what happens when you do not go to church", it was just after my Father had died so you can imaging our indignation.
I did not go back untill the year 2004, untill I met Joan. We actually bobbed of the job search at MIC House one Wednesday and came up to Tunstall where she fetched her violing from her house after taking her dog for a walk and we both then went up to the Conerstone Church where we met her friends. We both then proceeded to go down to the squere where they performed and hand handed out leaflets. I thought "Hey Up! what's going on , are they religious freeks or what".
After many arguments I was pursuaded to go to the Church (Cornerstone) one Sunday. It was then it hit me "this is what I have been missing since 1966". I was enjoying the services but refusing to take part in the Holy Communion, so I was nipping outside to have a smoke of my pipe. Danny, God bless him came out to me and asked if I would say the sinners prayer with him, so I did.
What a glorious day it was on Sunday 27th February 2005 when I was baptised as an adult by Pastor Tony Kelly and Terry Barlow in Tunstall Pool. Needless to say I was a wanted man by our Saviour Jesus Christ, He wanted me to the retun to the chruch and follow His path, and try to do His work which I am now doing with utmost pleasure under my Pastor, Tony Kelly.
